March 21-25 Taman Negara Pahang (National Park)

Brief story of Taman Negara Pahang...
A virgin jungle expanse covering 4,343 square kilometres, Taman Negara was established in 1939 and is the largest park in peninsular Malaysia reputed to be The Best Kept Tropical Rainforest. In Taman Negara, visitors have the opportunity to glimpse at the flora and fauna species estimated at 10,000 plants, 150,000 insects, 25,000 invertebrates, 675 birds, 270 reptiles, 250 freshwater fish and 200 mammals. Some of the flora and fauna found in Taman Negara are rare or indigenous to this country.

It was an educational tours teaching us about the creatures and plants of the rainforest eco-systems and we're having activities like Jungle Trekking, Night Walk, Canopy Walkway, Rapids Shooting and Visit to Aboriginal Tribe Settlement.

21 March 2012, 7pm evening, we took KTM from Wakaf Bharu to Jerantut...
going to Taman Negara to enjoy the nature forest...

22 March, 5am onwards, we are waiting for transport to Taman Negara.
While we are waiting
Arrival at TRV motel at 8am, check in and get rest before having jungle trek to river fun..

Located 800 metres from Mutiara Resort, this river pool is reachable by foot within 15 - 20 minutes walk through flat trail from Park HQ.

Tasty dinner
Around 9pm, Night Jungle Walk & Wildlife observation hide (Jungle hide).
Discover the side of the jungle which comes alive at night. Familiarize with nocturnal plants and insects and savour a chance to spot animals up close at the Observation Hide.
Spend nights hidden up in the trees while waiting for a tapir, bear or elephant to appear. Most hides are built overlooking saltlicks, from which some animals obtain necessary minerals.

Go for Canopy Walkway
The world’s longest suspended canopy walk is the most popular activity in this rainforest and you have to be prepared to queue for a while. Secured 40 metres above the forest floor, visitors have a good vantage point from here.

At Mutiara Taman Negara Resort...






23 March, 3pm onwards, visit Orang Asli Settlements
“Orang Asli”, the local natives, are gentle folk who lead a nomadic lifestyle in Taman Negara. They are called Batek and their settlements are found along the trails whilst, some are accessible by boat. They still live a nomadic lifestyle and were the only people who are allowed to hunt and forage. They farm, fish and hunt in the park...

24 March, 2012 - Breakfast+ Buy Souvenir + Photo Shooting & Leaving back to Jerantut

After purchasing souvenir...

Jerantut KTM, where we will take it back to UMK
Around 9pm, we went to Jerantut Carnival before we take train at 3am (25 Mar).
