Trip to Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu Trip [8 - 13 February 2012]
YEAH, we fly to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Do you know why we fly there? It's just because of the cheap flight ticket we book last year, which only RM 40. Can you believe it?
Oh yes, to traveling outbound, is it a lure if we manage to get low price flight ticket?
But, without proper planning, it will just cost more to us in the travel destination, in terms of accommodation, land transport, etc.

Wednesday 8 Feb,we take flight to KK.

Upon arrival at 1pm. Counter check in which require IC. Then together with other friends, we are fetch to lunch and then head to Mersilau, Kundasang, which took us more than 1 hour.
Arrival at Kiram's Village, Mesilau Kundasang where all of us will spend the 1st night here. This place is likely Cameron Highland to me, because it located at highland.

Posing before leaving. Behind us is the Mount Kinabalu. Kirei-na Yama desune.
We came to Desa Cattle Farm, located at Mesilau Highland, Kundasang, Ranau where the are many Holstein cattle are found. Desa fresh milk is available in most supermarkets in Sabah and Sarawak.

Then, leaving to Poring Hot Spring

Situated 40 kilometers (25 miles) slightly northeast from the Parks HQ, Poring is located in the lowlands—a contrast to the Parks HQ.
 


Interesting areas in the park to be visited are the butterfly farm, the Poring Orchid Conservation Centre, the tropical garden, the Poring canopy walkway, etc.

Rafflesia are found in a village by the roadside. RM15 is needed to be pay to the house owner in order to see the flower.

Akinabalu Youth Hostel for the 2nd night. Summer Lodge for the rest of the stay. I more prefer Akinabalu as the environment are more elegant and beautiful.

Friday 10 February, 2012 Snorkeling at Island, T.A.R. Marine Park

We check out from Akinabalu Hostel at early morning . Then switch to check into the Summer Lodge which located nearby Akinabalu Hostel. The room are accommodate 4 person, each person cost RM27 daily. We stay for 3 day before leaving Kota Kinabalu.

Basically got TV and free internet service beside some travel information are available in lobby.
 After breakfast, we walk from Gaya Street to the Jesselton Point.

Many counter available for choice in purchase the Boat package to the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. We bought a package to 2 Island - Sapi & Manukan Island at RM43 (including boat transfer, goggle, life jacket, snorkeling fins)
10.30am, Upon arrival of Sapi Island...

10.38am... We get ready to swim & snorkel around here
We leave Sapi Island at 1pm according to the time given in the package taken.

 Then, we head to Manukan Island. We lunch here, walk around the white sandy beach, view the scenery around the island and snorkel before take off at 3.30pm.

2012 February 11, Saturday Kiulu White Water Rafting and Bonding with Gaya Street

We took a package - White Water Rafting Kiulu River, it is located at Kampung Pukak Kiulu, about 1 hour drive from Kota Kinabalu (42 kilometers away).

By paying RM140, we are having land transfer by 'bus persiaran' in van size.

Trip begins with a safety briefing session conducted by our professional raft guide that will demonstrates rafting techniques and proper handling of rafting equipment before rafting commences.

Excursion covers up to 15km, the journey will take about 1 ½ - 2 hours of rafting before reaching the ending point where delicious barbecue lunch prepared just by the riverbank.
This is the place of ending point where we lunch here before heading back to Summer lodge.

Event: Bonding with Gaya Street (11 - 12 February 2012)
A Community Heritage Exhibition in conjunction with the city's 12th anniversary.

Photographs of the 'old' Gaya Street will be exhibited, and there will be vintage cars on display, accompanied by local musicians from the retro era.

The event were highlight the community's rich heritage that has lived within the city since its colonial past, the Japanese Occupation, to post World War II, till today.


Around 10pm, in  the middle of the event, I leave and walk around KK. Then come to the Pasar Kraftangan Kota Kinabalu. A walk in to the handicraft market, we will find many similar handicraft are sold by every stalls. Things sold are like key chain, wall decoration, bag, etc...

 We reach to Lok Kawi Wildlife Park at around 12pm by rented car.
With RM10 entrance fee, u will get a free Map.

Beside Botanical garden, we also able to see animal feeding.


















About 4pm, we reached Sabah Museum Kota Kinabalu.
We enter for free as students are free of charge.

 Evening, we come to harbor nearby Jessleton Point.

 After photo shooting, we went to Upperstar @ Lintas Street where we will have dinner there.

Morning, along with Ah Soon, we came to Amp Square, Suria Sabah Shoping Complex having singing before we get ready to the KKIA Terminal 2 for flight return to LCCT, KL.
